Osvaldo Russo Salles

My work is nourished by contemporary visual culture, memory, music, the human figure, nature, geometry and those everyday elements capable of awakening an emotion. I am especially interested in the dialogue between the recognizable and the unexpected, between the image that belongs to our memory and the one that appears after being transformed.
In recent years, this search has also led me to recover the material dimension of the work. LEATHER MOON, for example, he incorporates drum slices, leather and threads into the painting to establish a direct link with candombe and with a part of my memory linked to Montevideo. The material then ceases to be a support and becomes part of the language of the work.
