William Morris was born on 24 March 1834 in Walthamstow, near London. In 1861, he started the firm Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. with friends like Rossetti and Burne-Jones. The firm became known for its wallpaper and patterned fabrics, many of which are still sold today. Morris continued to create, design, and inspire until he passed away in 1896 at the age of 62.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who was William Morris?
An English designer (1834–1896) who was central to the Arts and Crafts movement. He is best known for his wallpaper and fabric designs featuring flowers, leaves, and birds, such as the Strawberry Thief.
Is it art or wallpaper patterns?
Both. Morris patterns were made for wallpaper and fabrics, but work just as well as prints on the wall, because they are so carefully composed.
Does Morris fit in modern décor?
Yes, and it is popular today. A patterned Morris print against a simple wall adds character, and it fits especially in the kitchen, hallway and bedroom.
What colors are available?
Lots of green, blue, red and gold in natural tones. See the product image for exact colors.
Can I hang multiple Morris motifs together?
Yes, patterns from the same artist match each other naturally. Two or three prints of the same size and frame will make a cohesive wall.
